Lauren + Christopher's St. Lucia wedding was truly one of the most special things I have ever been a part of.   It is always such a privilege to photograph someone's most important day, and to be trusted with their most intimate moments.  To be invited into homes and lives and families.  But this wedding had  more than the usual traditions and rituals.  It was a week long affair and I was able to be there for every second of it.  It was so great to spend time with Lauren + Chris in the days leading up to the ceremony, rehearsal dinner,  and of course the wedding and reception.  But also a couple of days after, when I got to see them relax and enjoy being husband + wife for the first time.

The first night almost all of the guests had arrived and we took a shuttle ride to an Italian restaurant during which our driver sang to us a cappella.  The night air was warm, we were all together and had a stranger with the voice of an angel serenading us.  It was a great way to start the week.

What was most special about the whole week to me was that Lauren had asked if I would photograph her and her mother and sister spreading her father's ashes in the water in front of where the ceremony was going to be.  I genuinely considered this the greatest honor to be given and was so happy to be allowed to be a part of this moment in time.  Lauren's father was a lieutenant for the Groton, Connecticut Police Department and although he passed away years before he was very much there in spirit with his daughter.  Along with his ashes having been spread in the ocean the night before, his jacket also held his spot on a chair at the ceremony.  A heart shaped patch from his uniform was sewn into Lauren's dress, along with a matching one on the other side from Chris' uniform, who also happens to be a Police Officer for Groton.  He was celebrated through the entire week in prayers, and toasts and speeches.  Even in a thoughtful gift given by one of Lauren's cousins/bridesmaids.  Lauren and her sister Gina, who also performed the ceremony, dedicated the father-daughter dance at the reception to their father in a way they were sure he'd approve of.  An incredible choreographed mashup of every late 80's/early 90's dance move you can think of set to a NKOTB {or New Kids on the Block for all you young kids} song.  It. Was. Awesome.

The wedding day began as most do, the bride getting pampered in the spa... while the groom went out on a snorkeling trip with his groomsmen, Reggie and Brian.  {Seriously?  I had nightmares it was going to be the boat/wedding scene right out of The Hangover when I heard that}.  Lauren had every detail laid out for me when I walked in the room.  Her gown and her bridesmaids dresses were hanging in the doorway with the sun streaming through, she had her to-die-for royal blue Manolo Blahnik Hangisi shoes out along with the rings and other wedding details.  Lauren came back and took her time getting ready in their honeymoon suite which had an infinity pool right off the bedroom and stunning views of the resort and island right outside of the living room.  Lauren's mother and sister soon joined her, along with her two cousins Aubrey and Kristen who were also bridesmaids, and Maid of Honor, Blair.  Chris' mother stopped by and everyone received very sweet gifts from Lauren. Some champagne was popped and soon all the girls looked just gorgeous in their Dress Boutique of Mystic dresses and of course Lauren's Modern Trousseau Couture gown made her even more breathtaking than she already is, if thats possible.

The ceremony was held in a garden overlooking the ocean.  The scenery was unreal, a true paradise.  The family and friends who had travelled quite a distance to be with Lauren + Christopher at their St. Lucia wedding witnessed true love at it's brightest.  The couple recited vows they had written themselves, which included of course their adorable Corgi pup, Kowalski.  After the rings were exchanged, I Do's were said, and first {and second and third} kisses were had they ended the ceremony with rose petals thrown for them.  It really was storybook.

After grabbing some photos of Lauren + Chris at sunset, they joined their guests at the cocktail hour which overlooked the Caribbean Sea at sunset while a steel drum band played.  Dinner and dancing were outside with glowing paper lanterns hanging above, lighting the reception.  The people at Sandal's La Toc really made Lauren + Christopher's St. Lucia wedding pure magic.  Even more magical was the toast by the best man, Reggie.  He got a little choked up during the toast for sure but what was so nice is that he gave Lauren a gift he had found on the island.  We'll keep that joke an inside one but just know, it was funny.  If you want to know how to give a great best man's toast go and talk to Reggie ;)  Lauren's sister also gave a beautiful and moving toast about what true love means.  I can not forget to mention Aunt Betty.  And her light up color changing shoes she had on at the reception.  Aunt Betty was a highlight to the whole trip but that girl can party, and her shoes proved it.  After some eating and drinking and dancing, just when you thought the night couldn't get any better, the fire dancers showed up.  That's right, to close out the night, Lauren + Chris surprised everyone with fire dancers!  It was just so cool.

This wedding was so full of emotion, love and surprises.   The people were beautiful, the location was perfect and the love that Lauren + Christopher so obviously have for each other was shown the entire week.  I truly thank you both, and your families for welcoming me to be a part of it all.  I really feel like I'm the one who gained a family out of this wedding!!  I look forward to watching all the amazing things that you will have coming your way in the future.   A St. Lucia wedding was the exactly perfect way to start things off.

This photo moved me so much.  It was moments before we went out to the beach and everyone was trying to get organized and I just happened to catch Lauren reflecting on her father's jacket while her future husband and future father in law were getting things ready.   The bride and the three most important men in her life <3 D7500 0 D7500 0 D7500 0 D7500 0 D7500 0 D7500 0 D7500 0 D7500 0 D7500 0 D7500 0 D7500 0 "dress boutique of mystic", "modern trousseau", "st. lucia wedding", "Destination wedding photographer", "sandals wedding"D7500 0 "modern trousseau", "st. lucia wedding", "Destination wedding photographer", "sandals wedding" "modern trousseau", "st. lucia wedding", "Destination wedding photographer", "sandals wedding" "monolo blahniks", "modern trousseau", "st. lucia wedding", "Destination wedding photographer", "sandals wedding" "monolo blahniks", "st. lucia wedding photographer", "st. lucia wedding", "Destination wedding photographer", "sandals wedding"D7500 0 "monolo blahniks", "st. lucia wedding photographer", "st. lucia wedding", "Destination wedding photographer", "sandals wedding"D7500 0 D7500 0 D7500 0

Wow, Amy!!! These photos are stunningly beautiful, you captured the feeling of being on the island so perfectly! But what touched me most was how you snapped those little emotional moments, catching the expressions on the faces of my family and friends that I know and love so much, in a way that is so beautiful and so true to us! Also the gorgeous and lovely Lauren's portraits are amazing :) You (and the heroic tree-limb adjustor, Seth) are awesome and thank you!
